Giacomo Matteotti House Museum
Via Ruga, 3 Fratta Polesine (RO)
The historic home of the socialist deputy Giacomo Matteotti dates back to the 18th century. The architectural features are those of a country villa, with the traditional tripartite organisation of the rooms, represented by the central hall, the side rooms and the stairwell connecting the floors, to which is added the elegant loggia with terrace, the result of an early 20th-century extension.
Embellished by the evocative park that surrounds it, Casa Museo Giacomo Matteotti houses original furnishings, family mementos, the refined portraits created by the painter Maria Vinca and a large and in-depth documentary section. Established as a House-Museum and opened to the public in 2012, it was recognised as a National Monument by Law 213/2017.
Everything in these rooms recalls the life and death of one of the fathers of our democracy, whose memory deserves to be handed down to future generations.
