Former prisons of Palazzo Pretorio

Feltre (BL)

The Former Prisons of Palazzo Pretorio, made accessible to the public from 2020, enclose within their walls four centuries of history. In the very centre of the citadel, these prisons carved into the rock retain an atmosphere of ancient terror.

Closed in the 1960s, they were reopened to the public a few years ago as a place of art and culture.

The path is illuminated at night in the rooms consisting of underground corridors and narrow cells occupied by ancient registers and manuscripts set up to evoke the original functioning. The cells host a visual art exhibition dedicated to local folklore.
