Intervention type 6.4.2: Creation and development of non-agricultural activities in rural areas
Description of the operation: The ‘Polesine Bike & Food’ project intends to develop, starting from the individual experiences of AQUA, an efficient tourism system able to promote a ‘cycling district or park’, where tourists will be accompanied by our expert guides to discover the Polesine area and its monuments. The project is implemented through a series of specific actions: purchase of bicycles, purchase of bicycle trolleys, setting up of bike-points, purchase of hardware, printing of a catalogue with cycling itineraries.
Aims: The project, developed as a whole at different times, has as its main objective the creation of a highly qualified system for the promotion, enhancement and assistance of cycle tourism, school tourism and wine and food tourism. The project's objectives are diverse; among these, the most significant are related to a number of actions implemented to meet the needs of tourists, including the improvement of the services offered, focusing on their upgrading also through the introduction of new technologies such as the activation of an online booking service and the online marketing of tourist packages, without neglecting the renewal of the means necessary for nature excursions, thus favouring the creation of the conditions for extending and expanding the tourist season.
In addition to these, there are general objectives such as the enhancement of the network of existing bicycle paths, the valorisation and discovery of typical products, the creation of new itineraries and slow-moving road proposals, which unite a number of localities in the middle Polesine area, with the consequent enrichment of the tourist offer, as well as an effective promotion and valorisation of the area obtained through the promotion of eco-sustainable travel.
Results achieved: It is expected to increase the number of tourists in the interest of sustainable tourism, improve services and knowledge of the tourism system offer in rural areas.
